Highlights of The Book

One of the keys to stress free daily cooking and entertaining is having a well stocked pantry. With all of the ingredients at hand, you can create amazing food at a moment’s notice. Some of my most interesting and delicious meals came from my pantry because I just didn’t feel like food shopping that day.

About The Book

I am a cookbook author, culinary teacher, and chef while my husband Steve acts as Chief Taster, confidant, and chauffeur. I have always been adventurous. But, truth be told, Steve was not adventurous until after we got married. His late mother did not enjoy cooking, therefore she wasn’t a good cook. The family ate out most of the time because Steve’ s mom and dad both worked full time.

When his mom did cook, these came out pretty much over cooked. In fact, Steve didn’t realize that a burger could be juicy and slightly pink in the middle until I showed him the light. He thought dry and burnt was the only way a burger could be served. It was what he knew from his experience in his first 25 years of life. And then he met little ole me!

About The Author

A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR

Hi, thanks for visiting The Traveling Locavores! We would love for you to get to know us better. We are Sandy and Steve Axelrod and after over 50 years of wedded bliss and stressful careers we are living our dream.

Sandy: I love everything creative! I’m a chef, jewelry artist, food and travel writer and photographer. My first cookbook Affairs to Remember, which is a memoir with recipes for easy entertaining, was published in September 2015. I was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated from Germantown High School. I attended University of Pennsylvania where I got my certification to be a medical technologist. But since there was nothing very creative about that field I went back to college and attended Temple University to major in Art History. Then I met Steve and it was love at first sight. We got married in 1969, had our son Brian in 1973, and in 1982 we moved to South Florida where we lived, worked, and played until June 1st, 2020. That was the day we sold our house and moved into our RV “Ladybug” — and began the journey of a lifetime!
