As I sit in at my desk in Sulphur Springs TX, it’s the end of May. And I’m just now writing an event in February, Celebrating Super Bowl NOLA Style! Sorry to be so far behind but happy to finally be able to share about the fabulous Super Bowl festivities we enjoyed during our annual pilgrimage to New Orleans.

Celebrating Super Bowl NOLA Style even on the highways!

Passing Jackson Square
As you all know, Steve and I LOVE New Orleans. We truly need to be there each and every year! Our stay this time was peppered with, not one but two, once in a lifetime experiences. The first was in January, when we were there for the epic blizzard of 2025. A little over a foot of snow blanketed the city and wreaked havoc all over town.

Immediately after the blizzard and streets became drivable again, we started noticing all of the hype of the approaching Super Bowl. And when Super Bowl week arrived the city’s population swelled enormously. We tried navigating through The Quarter but it wasn’t easy.

Study in Blue and Pink

Kaleidoscope of Colors
One evening, after making our rounds of food shopping at Aldi, Trader Joe’s, Rouse’s and Central Grocery, we were heading home by way of Decatur Street. Nightfall was quickly approaching as we drove past Jackson Square. We noticed that something special was happening. Saint Louis Cathedral had been magically transformed into a digital art show.

Kapow!
We were so lucky to find a parking spot only a short walk to the Cathedral. Steve and I stood by the wrought iron fence totally mesmerized by the ever changing display of color and artistry. Neither of us could believe how lucky we were to have chosen that moment in time to pass Jackson Square which then enabled us to view this magnificent spectacle!!!

The show lasted for about an hour. I took hundreds of photos to capture the amazing experience. Needless to say I have whittled them down to a select few to share with you. But it was truly difficult to hold back from posting about 100.

Fire and Ice
But celebrating Super Bowl NOLA style is pretty similar to the way New Orleanians celebrate life each and every day through their food, music and art.
