October is always fun at the Jersey Shore. There’s a nip in the air, the leaves are turning every color of the rainbow and Halloween decorations abound.

The Halloween House in Margate City NJ
As you know we spend two to three months at the Jersey Shore each year that we have been traveling in our RV. Summer “down the shore” is a habit that goes back to when Steve and I were both infants. We both grew up spending our days at the beach and evenings on the boardwalk. So it’s no surprise that that is still one of our happiest places on earth.

Part of the fun here is returning to some of our old haunts. This year that included a visit to the Somers Point Diner, in Somers Point NJ. When we were dating, engaged and then newlyweds Steve and I used to go to the Point Diner for late night snacks. Specifically Onion Rings! They had, by far, the best onion rings I’ve ever tasted!!!

And though this time we did not order those spectacular onion rings, we did go for a wonderful dinner with Steve’s family. Everything we had was delicious and with portions ample enough to bring home dinner for another meal!
The shore is also where we have lots of family and friends, which makes it even more special. We get to celebrate big milestone and Jewish High Holidays with our loved ones. And, in October it’s all about Halloween and Steve’s Birthday.
As I told you in my previous post we celebrated Steve’s birthday at Sapore Woodfire Pizza and Restaurant. That was on October 29. Then 2 days later we were invited to celebrate the fun of Halloween with my “sister” Sheri and her family.

Hall of Horrors

Be afraid! BE VERY AFRAID!!!
Before we went to their home for the festivities, we stopped to get an up close and personal view of the spectacular Halloween House. For the past few years we have driven by this amazing mansion in Margate City NJ at night. For sure it’s spookier at night. But in the daylight you can really see how extensive the decorations are. It’s truly something that has to be seen in person to appreciate.

A clown can be sooooooo scary!

But so many clowns are terrifying!
This is a private home of someone who is obsessed with Halloween. I can’t even imagine how long it takes him to get it all set up. But if you find yourself at the Jersey Shore, follow the Hydrangea Trail passed the mansions and will not be able to miss spotting this awesome attraction.
The Halloween fun at our nephew and niece’s home was amazing. Lots of children from infants to toddlers to elementary school age, all dressed in costumes. And all of the parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles were also there to enjoy the spirit of the holiday.

Three generations celebrating Halloween
There was plenty of food and drinks to enjoy before the main event of Trick or Treating. But the highlight for Steve and I was being there for our 2 month old grandniece Liv’s first Halloween. She had, not one, but two totally different costumes.

Ready to race for the Halloween candy!
The first was for the party when she was dressed as a pumpkin. And then she changed into her car racing themed costume along with her parents and 3 year old brother Mav. They were all too cute for words.

We’re already looking forward to getting back to the shore to be with everyone this summer!
