Our Panhandle Vacation

Soaking up some rays in Destin Florida
Steve and I spent all of last week on a glorious vacation in the Florida panhandle. Our son Brian and his beautiful wife Eve invited us to share a luxurious two bedroom time-share at the Club Intrawest in Sandestin to help Brian celebrate his 40th birthday. We are so blessed that they actually like spending time with us! What is even more interesting is that we share some of the same friends. And two of those couples, Ashley and Greg and Perri and Mike, joined us on vacation from Wednesday on.
We drove up separately from Brian, first because they left at six o’clock in the morning and that was way too early for us. And secondly because Brian towed his friend Greg’s 27-foot Sea Ray. After an almost nine hour drive we arrived at Club Intrawest to discover that it was the most impressive time-share we had ever been to. Our apartment had two huge bedrooms and bathrooms, a spacious living room and dining room and a full gourmet kitchen. Plus a beautiful balcony with Adirondack rocking chairs. The decor reminded me of a posh beach resort in Nantucket. It was perfect! And after our long drive we were all quite content to shower and order pizza, which is exactly what we did.
We woke up Monday morning to the aroma of bacon and eggs wafting in the air. Brian was making breakfast and coffee was ready for me. I have the best son ever. With our bellies full we decided to do a little exploring and head to the beach which is still on resort property. The four of us piled into the golf cart that Brian rented and off we went to dig our toes in the pristine white powdery sand. Although we did venture to the water’s edge the Gulf was far too frigid for us. Not to worry. We were happy as clams to just lie on the resort’s chaises and soak up the sun. This was the R and R we all so desperately needed.

It doesn’t get much more relaxing than this!
