We have totally enjoyed our visit and travels with our RV friends and now it’s time to get back to our regular programming. 🙂 While we were still in Pearland TX outside of Houston, we went to Fish City Grill with our friends there. And it was quite good.

Fish City Grill is all about friendly people and serious seafood. Lovett and Bill Bayne started with humble beginnings. Their first restaurant was a small 12 table place. Now they have grown to 20 restaurants with no plans to stop growing any time soon.

History 

Their ultimate goal is driven by three passions. The first is to serve delicious seafood made from scratch recipes at prices people can afford.

The second passion is to provide the best job their team members ever have. It doesn’t matter whether someone is looking for a career with them, or only a part-time job, their intention is to create an inclusive culture that puts team members first. Employees at Fish City Grill restaurants are treated with respect, integrity, and professionalism all done with a hug and a smile.

And their third passion is that they want “everyone (Team Members and Customers) to feel better about life after they leave our restaurants than before they came in.”

With goals and passions like that they will continue to grow and be quite successful.

Our experience

We noticed that friendly welcoming vibe as soon as we walked in. The decor was nautical, casual but chic, and fun. The varied menu gave us plenty of options to mull over.

What we ate

Shrimp Cobb Salad

I’m pretty sure that Stanley chose the Pick 2 Combo, but I have no photo to jog my memory. Laura had the Shrimp Cobb Salad which was huge and filling. Her shrimp were sweet and tender and the rest of the plate was filled with all of the usual Cobb Salad suspects. There was hard boiled egg, greens, fresh vine ripe tomatoes, crispy bacon and crumbled blue cheese with a creamy Ranch Dressing.

Lobster and Shrimp Grilled Cheese

Steve asked me what I thought about him ordering the Lobster and Shrimp Grilled Cheese. At first the idea sounded pretty good. But on further investigation it sounded like too many ingredients. When you put sweet lobster and shrimp together with Cheddar, Jack, American, Queso Blanco, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Sriracha and Scallions on grilled sourdough, the flavor of the seafood could get lost and everything just become muddled. But he ordered it anyway.

Next time, he promised to listen to me. All he could taste was salt! But our server graciously replaced his meal with something else that was much more to Steve’s liking. In all honesty, I have no idea what he ate. Though his meal was replaced quite quickly, we were all eating, chatting and laughing so much that I was just happy that he was happy.

Beer Battered Fish and Chips

I had the Beer Battered Fish and Chips which was quite good. The fish was cod and the beer batter was a delicious and crunchy compliment to the tender fish. The fries were perfect and my tartar sauce/cocktail sauce blend was a nice tangy enhancement to both the fish and the chips.

Our portions were so large, that not one of the four of us had any room left for dessert!

Since there are Fish City Grills and their sister restaurants Half Shells Seafood, in several states, I highly recommend you check for locations near you.
