I have to say that I’m happily back to writing after taking the time off!

This beauty came to the fence to say “Hi”

Autumn Colors in Western South Carolina
Time off certainly implies a vacation. But when you travel full time in your RV, pretty much every single day is a vacation. While we do live our everyday lives pretty much like those of you who are grounded, we tend to go site seeing and to special festivals and events every week. That’s the beauty of living in new places. There’s lots to learn and explore.

Autumn Leaves

Brief stop on our scenic route.
Luckily the businesses that Steve and I are involved in to fund our travel addiction, can be worked from absolutely anywhere. And somehow we manage to blend work, travel and everyday life.

Welcome to Caesars Head State Park

But I have to admit that when my computer crashed I had a total meltdown. I just did not believe it would be fixable. Thankfully I was very wrong. And that vacation time that I took was so I could delete all of the unwanted files from my computer. Now my Mac is running much faster and I am breathing a great big sigh of relief!!!

However I learned something very important during that down time. It is far too stressful to manage two blogs all by myself. So here’s what I have decided to do. I am going to continue to post here, on The Traveling Locavores, once a week on Mondays. I will reserve Thursdays for the occasional post with updates about working on our journey.

Peaks and Valleys of Caesars Head

Living on the Edge
Now, back to telling you about our beautiful journey. Before the great computer crash of 2025, I was sharing about amazing and gorgeous western South Carolina. Back in November we were visiting our son and his bride of 19 years in Pickens, SC.

Pointing the way to Hooker Falls

Holly Berry
One spectacularly beautiful day we decided to take our kids’ advice and take the drive across the border to North Carolina. The last of the Autumn leaves were in full color in every shade from crimson to pale yellow. We loved the scenic drive to Caesars Head State Park and the Dupont State Recreational Forest.

Trees “Holding Hands”

Stepping Stones
With many stops along the route for photo ops, our trip took about an hour to get to the Hooker Falls Trail, that Brian and Eve had raved about. After about a mile and a half hike filled with lots of hills and valleys we came upon the falls. I don’t know for sure if it was the view, or the hike, that left us completely breathless. If only we had brought a picnic with us! It was the most idyllic spot!

After hiking back to the car we were quite happy to sit for a bit. Then we continued on through Little River to Hendersonville.
