Happy New Year 2024

I have been spending a little time reflecting on this past year. For us it was a relatively quiet one, travel wise. We spent five and a half amazing months in New Orleans that gave us the opportunity to cross a few items off our bucket list. We experienced our first Mardi Gras, ate lots of King Cake and even caught some beads. A drive to Avery Island meant we got to visit the Tabasco Factory and Jungle Gardens. And finally we were able to experience our very first Jazz Fest, spending one glorious day there each weekend of the festival.

Then we went back to south Florida, thinking we were only going to be there for one month. That month unfortunately turned in 5 because Steve was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and needed to undergo radiation therapy. On the bright side, we had lots of time to visit with all of our dear friends.

After over a year of missing our son and his beautiful wife, we finally got to spend a fabulous 2 weeks with them. That will have to hold us until the summer.

And now we are back in New Orleans for a couple of months.

Since we have been on the road, we have celebrated New Years Eve with a delicious dinner and some bubbly. Just the two of us, and Hershi, in our fabulous home on wheels “Ladybug”. This year is the same. We picked up a bottle of Cava at Costco that was chilling in the fridge for days. And for our dinner, we devoured my Caesar Salad along with Crawfish Daufuske over pasta. One of these days I will actually write an official recipe for the very versatile Daufuske sauce. But for a rough version follow the instructions here: https://www.thetravelinglocavores.com/maine-lobster/, and just substitute shrimp or crawfish for the lobster.

I’d love to know how you rang in 2024! Happy New Year everyone!!!
