Friends of ours, who live in Canyon Lake TX were visiting NASA for the day. When we looked for a place to meet House of Pies Houston Texas seemed to fit the bill perfectly!

Luscious Lemon Meringue Pie

House of Pies is well know for their amazingly delectable homemade pies and cakes. But they also served delicious classic diner food as well. That made it the perfect destination for Jacki and her family to have an early dinner and dessert and for Steve and I to enjoy our favorite pie slices.

Since opening in 1967 they have been “crafting memories and comfort one bite at a time”. Those words really resonated with me because as The Traveling Locavores we are tasting America one bite at a time!!

House of Pies is more that simply a place to eat. It’s a full service restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. And it’s also a bakery. For over 58 years this family owned and operated establishment has built a legacy based on scratch made comfort food and desserts that are legendary. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. It makes you feel right at home even if you have never been there before.

At the heart of their operation is the awesome bakery that puts out over 40 varieties of cakes and pies each and every day. The dessert menu is divided into three categories, each with a long list of temptations.

Dutch Apple Pie

FRUIT PIES: Apple, Dutch Apple, Blueberry, Cherry, Peach, Strawberry Rhubarb and even Sugar Free Apple and Cherry pies.

Coconut Cream Pie

CREAM PIES: Banana Cream. Bayou Goo Pie, French Silk, Coconut Cream, Chocolate Cream, German Chocolate, Bavarian Chocolate, French Black Bottom and Bavarian Banana Pie.

SPECIALTY PIES: Texas Pecan Fudge, Key Lime, Lemon Icebox, Pumpkin, Sweet Potato, Buttermilk, Egg Cream Custard, Coconut Custard, Fresh Strawberry Cream and Strawberry Cream Cheese Pie.

And as if all of that wasn’t enough, they keep the bakery shelves stocked with cookies, cheesecakes and more!!! There is definitely something on their dessert menu to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth.

I can assure you from first hand experience House of Pies Houston Texas is the place to go for absolutely delicious pies.
