I know that this is a bit of a departure from my usual cookbook reviews, but I promise that Pink Steering Wheel Chronicles is so totally worth the detour!

It is quite rare that I read a book that is not food related. It’s just that once in a while it is refreshing to read something different. And I love non-fiction. So when the author, Laura Fahrenthold, offered to send me the book to read and review I jumped at the chance. The book is the story of spreading her “husband’s ashes 31k miles across US and Canada on RV trips with eyeball rolling teenagers and stray dog in tow.” How could I not like it? If it is about traveling the country and RVing I figured it had to hold me interest. And did it ever!

Here’s what other people are saying about THE PINK STEERING WHEEL CHRONICLES:

“Laura Fahrenthold takes us on the craziest memorial road trip ever as she scatters her husband’s ashes around the country, her two daughters in tow. Her honest, and often hilarious story makes for a grief memoir that will resonate with anyone who has had to start life over without a map.”—Julie Metz, best-selling author of Perfection

“The story would be sad if it weren’t so hilarious. And hilarious if it weren’t so sad.”—Amanda Bennett, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist

“The author tackles grief and loss in the most American of ways, hitting the road in a camper with two kids, a dog and her dead husband’s ashes. Courageous, brutally and observant, The Pink Steering Wheel Chronicles is a classic road story of love and healing. It’s also laugh-out-loud funny.”—Barbara Barker, Newsday

It was the kind of book that you just can’t put down! I read it in two days. It was that well written. And about 5 minutes after I finished it a friend asked it I had read any good book lately. She had just finished one and was looking for something to read next. So of course, I told her about Pink Steering Wheel Chronicles. By the time I was through she had already ordered it on Amazon Prime! It is also available everywhere books are sold.
