Our Fabulous Guide Brian

Mmmmm.  Stretch.  Yawn.  Stretch.  What a great night’s sleep we had!  We were so refreshed and ready to take on the party that is New Orleans.  As usual, Hershi got Steve up early to go for a walk.  Only this time Steve and Hershi got back into bed and we all slept till after 10.  While I made coffee Steve road his bike to Cafe du Monde which is only a few blocks from the RV Resort.  He came back loaded with warm powdered sugar covered beignet!!  You could actually smell the sugar without even opening the bag.  We devoured them immediately. Then we went to the gym.  No kidding we really did.  Half hour of cardio on the treadmill then I worked my upper body while Steve went exploring on his bike.  We met up back at the RV, showered and dressed and then drove to Slidell to go on our first ever tour of the Bayou.  The day had become rather overcast but we still opted for the open boat with the highly recommended guide Brian.  This may have been the single most fantastic excursion that we have ever taken.  We had debated between an air boat tour and the one we took.  And decided that the quieter boat might allow us to see and hear much more.  It was so amazing navigating the waters through the bayou. Our guide was so knowledgeable; he knew every bird by its chirp.  We saw a bunch of  baby Russian Wild Boar.  They were little so they were cute.  The huge mama, not so much.  Then came the alligators. Lots of them.  Brian kept tossing marshmallows to them and they literally ate them up.  He started telling us about this really big gator they call Al and as if on cue, Al appeared.  He was probably about 15 feet long.  Brian lured him all the way up to our boat with a piece of hot dog on a long twig.  Al jumped out of the water to grab his prize.  We saw him later sunning himself on log.  Flora and fauna abounded. Duckweed covered the surface of the water like a velvety green carpet, owls hooted, birds sang and the cicadas clicked.
