Steve and I decided to spend a week in Waco based on our desire to have brunch at Joanna and Chip Gaines restaurant there. So we went to Magnolia Table Waco Texas to celebrate our 57th Wedding Anniversary.

Happy 57th Wedding Anniversary to Us!

In the six years that we have been traveling full time, we have covered quite a bit of Texas. But Texas is HUGE!!! And in all those visits we had never been to Waco. So this year we decided to rectify that.

For more years than I can remember I’ve been watching Joanna and Chip renovate Fixer Uppers in Waco. Over the years they seemed to single handedly revitalize the little town they live in. I’ve been in awe of their talents and desire to make Waco a better place to live.

Now it was time to see and taste the fruits of their labor! I have to say that it was all quite impressive.

From the second we entered the restaurant we felt welcomed by the bright, open cheerful interior. The dining room was humming with buzzy conversation interrupted by mmmm’s and yum’s and this is sooooooo good.

We were seated at a comfy banquette and our server handed us menus to peruse. As soon as I saw biscuits and benedicts on the menu, I knew what I was having. Steve took a few extra minutes to decide because the menu was large and EVERYTHING sounded so delicious.

Steve’s French Toast with Strawberry Butter and Sausage Patties

He finally decided on the French Toast served with Strawberry Butter, real Maple Syrup and Housemade Sausage Patties. The Strawberry Butter was so yummy that it would have made shoe leather taste like a treat. Pieces of fresh strawberries were still visible and gave the butter a wonderful texture. Mix that with the warm maple syrup dripping over the French Toast slices and you have a breakfast that tasted like a little piece of heaven.

The money shot!

I had the Farm Eggs Benedict which was two of Jo’s Buttermilk Biscuits Topped with Poached Eggs and Thick Cut Peppered Bacon Drizzled with Hollandaise Sauce and Sprinkled with Chives. The poached eggs oozed out deep yellow orange runny yolks that only perfectly cooked, farm fresh eggs could. It was the perfect bite of eggy richness, salty crisp peppery bacon, amazing flaky biscuit and creamy lemony hollandaise. To all of that I added a side of absolutely delicious Breakfast Potatoes. That was my little slice of heaven!
